All, but given up!

I know it's been nearly two months since I added to this chronicle of our lives ... I'm feeling quite guilty.

Where to start! Well, school went back into session just before Labor Day and is keeping the girls well occupied with homework and after-school activities. There's Consumer Science Club, Drama Club, NHS, SADD, an after-school college comp. class and the various Senior class activities that keep Ashley busy. Hannah sometimes tags along to CSC and Drama. Our garden is done ... and we've put away a nice little bit of vegetables to enjoy later this year. I hope everyone has enthusiasm to do it again, next spring.

Labor Day weekend was great! Auntie Lynn (my sister) & Uncle Spencer, and Mom & Dad came up for the weekend. We did enough to have memories, but not so much as to wear ourselves out. We cooked over the campfire as much as we could, and spent almost all of the time outdoors. We took a kayak/canoe trip down the Connecticut River -- Mom & I got wet and scared everyone enough to cut our trip a little short. Some did a little biking, but the mosquitos were ferocious. We had to squeeze a little birthday party in ... had maple-cream pie and presents. I sure hope we can do it all again, someday!

Tonight, we got word from Uncle Rick ... he made it safely to Australia for a 3-week visit. We'll be watching his blog for updates on all the fun.

We enjoyed some special company, recently and had a big ham dinner, with scalloped potatoes, green beans from the garden, carrot salad, baked sweet dumpling squashes, and rolls, followed by Ashley's yummy apple pie & ice cream ... with Evie, Peter & Paula, Mick & Naomi, Gary & Rosanna, and Norman & Nancy. What a fun visit it was! We're glad for those memories.

I just got off the phone with the instructor with whom we've signed up for horse care sessions on Saturdays, next month. The girls are really looking forward to this treat. Me, too, of course!

So, now to find a few pictures to help show the latest look of the fun, family and area. It has been beautiful, these last few days ... we've seen the peak of our foliage already, and there is a chance of snow on Thursday. Here we go, again!
