Hannah thoroughly enjoyed the week-long music camp she attended in Colebrook. The day camp was made available as a combined effort by music teachers from Colebrook and Canaan, VT, and so kids from both schools got private lessons in the mornings and group practices all afternoon. Yesterday evening, the camp ended with a little concert performance in which Hannah participated in the band and choral components. It was such a pleasure to see the young people who really enjoyed learning and working together share with us, their parents, family and friends, the fruit of their labor. They performed from the porch of the Tillotson Center to an audience on the lawn, while the annual GNW Moose Festival was getting underway in town.
Ashley has returned to college for her senior year.
Todd has put a lot of miles on, being the chauffeur for Hannah and attending PT sessions as well as a truck or tractor pull, here and there.
Jazz had a jaunt out of her pasture and made us nervous with her defiant run down the center of Rte 3. Todd & I tried to catch her while she was munching the tasty, tall grass in the neighbor's yard. But, she was naughty! She'd let us get oh-so-close and then trot off. When evading us in that yard got boring, she headed back up the center of Rte 3 to the southern end of her pasture, ventured up the trail into the woods a ways and then dashed by me again, to do some more running on asphalt, to the driveway. In the little side-yard, she finally gave in and let me corral her to her pasture. Sure had me worried, and working up a good sweat.
Our little tuxedo kittens are growing up and settling down a little. They now enjoy some handling and affection from us ... their purr motors are SO loud! But, we still hear "kitten thunder" at any odd time of the day or night. They'll be "fixed" this week, and will hopefully start to settle into being lap cats, like Sebastien.
Today, the adventure is a corn roast in Canada. If I am on the ball, I may manage to take some pictures. It is starting out as a gorgeous day. I should get a sunrise soak in before doing much else. Yes, the sun has been up for a while, but it finally peeks over the hill and shines onto the back deck around this time.
